Odyssey involved designing a community center that provides a safe space for individuals to express their repressed ideas and thoughts. The aim was to create a platform where people can give their ideas a second chance, and experiment with their creativity. This project was included in Yasar University’s Architecture Catalogue and won the 35th cycle WA award student category by the World Architecture organization. During the site analysis, it was discovered that the neighborhood still maintained its old community spirit. However, there were many street animals in the area, and there was no veterinary clinic or shelter for them. As a result, the community members formed a group to help these animals. They collected funds and built a shelter for them, or called a vet whenever needed.
Design idea
Design idea was to create a classless and timeless center that encourages creativity without relying on courses, and provides people with opportunities to explore their passions with high-end technology. To achieve this, we wanted people to feel like they’re embarking on an adventure when they enter the building because exploration is one of the first steps towards creativity.
Mass Concept
We wanted to give them the option to explore the area without forcing them to do so. They can leave or continue their journey as they wish. Conceptual models, we aimed to demonstrate how each mass and path interacts and connects with each other, much like how humans connect with each other to survive.
